John Jr and Jade wanted more information about selflessness after reading the verse 1 Corinthians 13: "Selflessness is loving others, being patient and kind, and not being envious or rude." John Jr knew Jesus was showed selflessness. They knew that love Jrsus showed others sought nothing in return; he gave his time and energy freely to anyone who asked for it and plenty that didn't; he even humbled himself to the point of washing his friends' feet 2. John Jr and Jade thought of ways to be more selfless. They were going to try to Donate, Volunteer, Serve others: Compliment instead of criticize:, Empathize with others, and Practice active listening:. 3. John Jr and Jade reflected on the verse In Philippians 2:3-4 "Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." The remembered Jesus teaching the principles of cultivating humility, putting love into action, serving others, actively listening, practicing empathy, giving freely, forgiving, praying for selflessness, and seeking accountability,. John Jr and Jade had a desire to be more like Jesus and started being more selfless in their lives.

The setting is a single-family house with a mom, a young boy Jake and dog Hipis. It’s a morning on a snowy day and it’s a beautiful sunrise. The mom has so much to do. The house is messy her son has made a mess with blocks, toys and trucks. She wants to enjoy the sunrise and walk out with her baby to watch it, but starts cleaning and getting everything ready around the house. She does not want to go out until she is finished, the dog is fed and it is all perfect around the house. She wants to be prepared for everything. Her and her boy missed the sunrise because of all the Cleaning. She tried to make everything perfect but in the end, it’s turned against her and they missed the beautiful moment. The next day, the same thing happens, but her son reminds her about the sunrise last minute and they both go out. The house is still messy, but they have a special moment together. It’s reminds them that not everything has to be perfect and that's perfect. They’re smiling together.

Emma looks closely and says, "The well has a metal cover. That’s special!" Page 5 Next, they visit the Tin Hau Temple. Emma is surprised and says, "There are so many statues in the temple!" The teacher explains, "These are the gods that protect the village. We can pray here for blessings." Page 6 In the temple, the kids see two old bronze bells. Emma asks, "What are these bells for?" The teacher says, "People ring the bells to tell the gods and pray for safety." Page 7 Before the trip ends, the kids take pictures on the village path. They agree to come back next time to join the village’s traditional activities and learn more about the culture. Page 8 Back at school, Alex and Emma excitedly share their trip stories. Everyone listens with great interest, looking forward to the day they can explore Lung Yeuk Tau together!
