The New Home
Where's Lauren???
Jenny moved into her new place, her heart filled with glee. Next door, there lived a girl, as nosey as could be. Lauren was her name, with hair of golden light, But her actions soon would turn the day into the night. She peered and poked around, with little care or grace, Making Jenny's bright new home feel like a darker space. 'A neighbor should be kind,' Jenny thought with a sigh, Wishing for a friend, under the vast, blue sky.

Lauren wasn't nice, oh, far from it indeed. She'd take things that weren't hers, driven by her greed. A plant, a letter, small things at first, you see, But soon it grew to more, as bad as it could be. She'd sneak into Jenny's yard, under the moon's soft glow, Taking whatever caught her eye, stooping very low. Jenny felt her patience wane, as she locked her door tight, Hoping for some peace, away from Lauren's sight.
2
One day, Lauren spoke a threat, dark and full of hate. 'I'll burn your house down,' she said, 'That will be your fate.' Jenny's heart grew cold with fear, at words so foul and grim, Wondering what she'd done, to bring such wrath from her. She'd never met someone so cruel, in all her fifty years, Lauren's words, like venom, confirmed her worst fears. But Jenny stood her ground, her spirit wouldn't break, She knew she must stay strong, for her own safety's sake.
3
Lauren's words grew harsher still, spreading lies and pain. Saying things so vile, like a never-ending rain. Jenny heard the rumors spread, each more cruel than the last, Feeling trapped and all alone, as days and nights passed. Anger bubbled up inside, at the injustice faced, How could someone be so mean, so utterly debased? Yet, Jenny held her anger in, not wanting to stoop low, Hoping Lauren's cruelty, would eventually go.
4
Enough was enough, Jenny knew, it was time to take a stand. She warned Lauren firmly, 'Stay off my land.' Her voice was calm but stern, as she made her feelings clear, Hoping that her message, would reach Lauren's ear. But Lauren laughed it off, not taking Jenny's plea, Continuing her antics, as bold as bold could be. Jenny felt her resolve harden, knowing what must be done, To protect her peace and home, from the one who shunned.
5
Then came the day, Lauren crossed the line, Doing something terrible, by design. On Jenny's property, mischief she did make, Pushing Jenny far, her kindness to forsake. The details of the deed, too dark to relay, But it changed their lives, in every single way. Jenny felt threatened, her safety in doubt, Knowing she must act, to sort this matter out.
6
Face to face they stood, the tension high as could be, Jenny's heart raced, wishing she could flee. But standing her ground, she knew she must defend, Her home and her peace, until the very end. With the force of her will, and strength she didn't know, Jenny confronted Lauren, her resolve began to show. A moment of conflict, a swift and sudden blow, Changed their lives forever, in the moonlight's soft glow.
7
Lauren fell to the ground, the world silent and still, The outcome of their clash, against Jenny's own will. She hadn't meant to harm, only to protect, But now she stood in shock, not sure what to expect. The situation grave, as Lauren lay unmoving, A moment of self-defense, now deeply disapproving. Jenny's heart sank low, as she realized the cost, Of a feud that went too far, and a life that was lost.
8
The tale spread far and wide, of the conflict that night, Jenny, dubbed 'One Hit Wonder,' a title she didn't invite. She wished for no fame, nor stories of the fight, Only peace and quiet, and to set things right. But life in the neighborhood, forever changed its tune, Whispered words and sideways glances, under the sun and moon. Yet, Jenny found her peace, in the solitude she sought, Living each day quietly, with the lessons she was taught.
9
As time went on, Jenny's life found a calm, In her garden and home, a soothing balm. No more threats or fears, under the sky so wide, She lived her days peacefully, with no need to hide. The neighborhood remembered, but slowly moved on, The tale of Jenny and Lauren, like a fading song. And in her heart, Jenny knew, she'd done all she could, To live a life of peace, in her neighborhood.
