Payton and Pixie

Rainbow bridge

Payton loved her little dog, Pixie, more than anything in the world. Pixie's black and white fur was soft as clouds, and she followed Payton everywhere. They would chase butterflies in the garden and snuggle together during storytime. Pixie's tiny paws would dance with excitement whenever Payton came home from school.

One morning, Pixie couldn't get up to greet Payton with her usual happy barks. The veterinarian said Pixie was very sick and in pain. Payton held Pixie close, whispering how much she loved her fluffy friend. That night, Pixie closed her eyes for the last time, leaving Payton's heart feeling empty.

Mommy sat beside Payton and wiped away her tears. "There's a special place called the Rainbow Bridge where Pixie is now," she explained gently. "It's a magical meadow where animals go when they leave us." Payton imagined Pixie running free, her black and white fur gleaming in the sunshine.

Payton drew pictures of Pixie playing at the Rainbow Bridge with other happy animals. Sometimes she still felt sad, but it helped to think of Pixie healthy again. Payton kept Pixie's favorite toy on her bed, a reminder of their special love. "I'll see you again someday at the Rainbow Bridge," Payton whispered to the stars each night.
