The First Day
afdg
Jiselle stood by the door, not wanting to go into class. She was crying softly, feeling scared and alone. It was her first day at a new school. She missed her old friends and felt nervous about meeting new ones.
1
Miss Garcia, the teacher, noticed Jiselle by the door. She walked over and knelt down to Jiselle's level. 'It's okay to be scared,' she said gently. 'Would you like to come in and meet some new friends?'
2
Jiselle wiped her tears and nodded. Miss Garcia held her hand and led her into the classroom. A girl named Maria smiled at Jiselle and waved. 'Hi, I'm Maria. Do you want to sit next to me?'
3
The class was working on an art project. Jiselle loved to draw, and she felt a bit better. She sat next to Maria and started drawing a beautiful picture. Maria looked at Jiselle's drawing and said, 'Wow, you're really good!'

When it was time for recess, Jiselle felt more confident. Maria invited her to play on the swings. They laughed and played together, and Jiselle started to feel happy. She realized that making new friends wasn't so scary after all.
5
At lunchtime, Jiselle sat with Maria and some other kids. They shared their snacks and talked about their favorite games. Jiselle felt like she was part of the group. She was no longer scared or lonely.
6
In the afternoon, it was time for show and tell. Jiselle showed her drawing from the art project. Everyone clapped and cheered for her. She felt proud and happy.
7
By the end of the day, Jiselle had made many new friends. She hugged Miss Garcia and thanked her. 'I had a great day,' she said with a big smile. Jiselle couldn't wait to come back to school tomorrow.
