Theo's Big Question
911 is for Emergencies
One sunny afternoon, Theo was playing with his toy ambulance. He zoomed it around the living room, making siren noises. Suddenly, he stopped and looked at his mom. 'Mom, why do people call 911?' he asked curiously. Theo's mom smiled and sat down next to him.

'Theo, 911 is a special phone number for emergencies,' his mom began. 'You call 911 when someone is really hurt or in danger.' Theo nodded, thinking about it. 'Like if someone falls and can't get up?' he asked. 'Yes, exactly,' his mom replied.

'When you call 911, a person called a dispatcher answers,' Theo's mom explained. 'The dispatcher asks questions to understand what kind of help is needed.' Theo's eyes widened with interest. 'Then what?' he asked eagerly. 'Then, they send the right helpers like police, firefighters, or an ambulance,' she said.

'After the call, the helpers come quickly,' Theo's mom continued. 'If it's an ambulance, they take the person to the hospital to get better.' Theo imagined the ambulance rushing to help someone. 'So, 911 is very important,' he said. 'Yes, Theo, it's very important,' his mom agreed, giving him a hug.
